Why the steer?
Every now and then somebody asks me why Dirty Fingers has a steer on the logo now instead of Lucy.

In his own words
That is what people told Scott when he named it. This is how it went instead.
The name
Everything on the menu was meant to be eaten with your hands.
For years
Knives and forks were not available. Just chopsticks.
Besides, chopsticks are really just an extension of your fingers.

So people guessed
Some thought we were just a bar. Some thought we were a girly bar. Some just kept driving.
Then
I sold the steakhouse. The smokers showed up out front.
And that was it
People stopped talking about the name, and started talking about the food.
Still true
A little smoke on your shirt. A little sauce on your fingers. A wad of napkins on the table.
See y'all around the smoker.

The beginning
Dirty Fingers began long before the first smoker was built.
Louisiana
Scott grew up in Louisiana, playing blues harmonica from the age of fourteen.
He learned to cook alongside his grandfather and his father in Louisiana.
Around the world
A career in the oil and gas industry took him around the world. Wherever he landed, two things were never far away: music and fire.
A short project
After retiring, he came to Vietnam for what was supposed to be a short project. Like many good stories, it didn't go according to plan.
Da Nang
A few years, a blues band, and countless meals later, he found a home in Da Nang and opened a steakhouse.

Dirty Fingers
Not long after, Dirty Fingers was born: a place built around live music, cold drinks, sports on the screens, and good food shared among friends.
The name
From the beginning, there were no forks and no knives, just food meant to be eaten with your hands. The only utensils were chopsticks, an extension of your fingers. That's how Dirty Fingers got its name.
People thought I was crazy. “Nobody is going to eat in a place called Dirty Fingers.”
The man cave
I already had my steakhouse, so Dirty Fingers was really my man cave. A cold beer. Too much tequila. Some live blues and rock.
Friends
Friends sitting around solving all the world’s problems. That was Dirty Fingers.
The smokers
The smokers arrived, blending Texas barbecue with the Cajun flavors of Scott's Louisiana roots.
Then something happened that I never planned. I sold the steakhouse. The smokers showed up out front.
Low. Slow. Long.
Our brisket goes on the smoker while most of you are sleeping. Low. Slow. Long.
The food
Little by little, people stopped talking about the name. And started talking about the food.

Today
Today, the smokers run low and slow, the music still plays, and the spirit of Dirty Fingers remains the same. Good food. Good music. Good friends. And every now and then... Dirty Fingers.
